Photography: Ramadan Bazaar 2016

The Ramadan Bazaar seems to have become an annual thing for me now, and I -with a few buddies in tow – joined hundreds of others in the sweaty shuffle along Geylang Serai for delicious fried street food this week.

And speaking of sweaty shuffles, this year’s walk was a little sweatier and shufflier than usual, thanks to all these strange new hipster offerings (Rainbow bagels, anyone?). I don’t think I’ve ever seen queues snake quite like that at a pasar malam, and in all honesty, I didn’t have the required patience and tolerance for heat to wait twenty minutes for a cup of Thai milk tea. So the only instagram-famous food item I managed to acquire were three servings of s’mores dips. A shamefully unfoodie-like showing.

Anyway, enough words. Here are some pictures!

$2.50 a serving; comes in white chocolate, dark chocolate & cookies & cream!

My favourite savory item of the night! Taco dendeng at $5 for 2.

I was originally there to rubberneck at the rainbow bagels ($8, what the heck) and I ended up buying a butterscotch float that I’m fairly certain is supposed to taste like butterbeer. Delicious! Despite the fact that the bag was 80% ice.

Turns out there are some stalls you can visit at the Tampines Ramadan Bazaar! I passed on Ice Burnz at Geylang Serai because of the queue and managed to try their Thai iced green tea ($3) at the Tampines stall the next day. Nothing to write home to, really.

Vadai and s’mores for the family. 🙂

Anyway! I’ve indulged enough in weird sweets for the week. I’ve started crossfitting again and I’m excited to blog about my new box in my next post. Exciting!
